This week I decided to try my hand at crocheting. I’ve been looking for a hobby for a little while now and this seems as good as any.
One day as I was mindlessly wasting my life scrolling through Facebook I came across the wool and the gang event taking place in one of the art hubs at the OXO Tower. It was only £5 and you got to keep the equipment afterwards so I thought why not!
I went along with my friend Amanda we had a great time! We were split into three groups and each group given a ‘teacher’ who was on hand to help if we got stuck. Our teacher was super nice and as she had only recently learnt to crochet herself she was open to discussion about certain methods and helped us to find our own groove instead of barking orders at us.
The ‘party’ went on for around 2 hours with some ambient music in the background and light-hearted chit-chat. The only thing missing was some booze!
Here is my finished basket:
I think I did well for my first time doing anything remotely like this! After I’ve become confident at this I think I will try knitting!
For anyone interested in crocheting or knitting check out Wool and the Gang and also check out my Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/tanyamstee/crochet-knit/ and let me know how you get on!
Happy making things 🙂
